Age, 62, passed away on January 19th of heart and lung failure at his home in Oceanside, CA.

Dan Beach Picture.jpg

October 7th, 1958 – January 19th, 2021
Age, 62, passed away on January 19th of heart and lung failure at his home in Oceanside, CA. Dan was born to Al and Ramona (Underdahl) Schroepfer at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota on October 7th, 1958. Dan is preceded in death by grandparents, parents, and baby brother, Richard. Dan is survived by a son, Evan Schroepfer of Maple Grove, MN, a brother, Jeff Schroepfer (Melinda) of River Fall, WI, his loyal little dog, Lola, and many cousins and friends.
For years, Dan dealt with the effects of radiation damage to his heart and lungs caused by treatment he received for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1987. While the treatment he received 34 years ago cured the cancer and allowed him to go on to have a family, engage in a productive career, travel the world, and make and maintain close friendships, it ultimately took his life. Dan displayed incredible resilience and strength while managing his condition and striving to live life to the fullest, particularly during the past four years.
Dan spent the first four years of this life in Minot, ND before the family moved to Crystal, MN. He attended Neil Elementary School, Sandburg Junior High School, and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1976.
Many hours of Dan’s youth were spent with his dad, Al, and brother, Jeff, in pursuit of building the ultimate go-cart. Test runs were frequently conducted on Idaho Avenue North in Crystal! Throughout his childhood, Dan made many family trips to the Minot, ND area to spend time with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He thoroughly enjoyed the hours spent on his Honda 50 with his brother and cousins on his aunt and uncle’s farm in Ryder, ND. At the age of 12, he developed a love for playing and coaching soccer which continued from junior high school to college and beyond. He was particularly proud of introducing his brother to the game and later coaching his son, Evan’s, youth soccer teams. Dan developed many close relationships through his involvement with soccer and was comforted by these long-lived friendships when his health began to slip.
Dan graduated from the University of Minnesota – Institute of Technology with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1981. He began his professional life at Honeywell in the Military Avionics Division where his team engineered an electronically steerable antenna that was used on the NASA space shuttle fleet and is currently used on the SpaceX Dragon Capsule. Dan and the Honeywell team ultimately obtained a patent for this device. Dan later worked at Polaris, Inc. as a Business and Marketing Manager for the Personal Watercraft Division, at Weber Automotive as a Product Marketing Manager, and at Textron Motors as a Business Development and Marketing Manager. Dan’s career path allowed him to travel extensively around the country and in Europe.
Dan was married to Kathy Veum from October of 1988 to 2007. They made their home in New Hope, MN and later, after the birth of their son Evan, in Mound, MN on Lake Minnetonka. Dan enjoyed living on the lake and pursuing his passion for personal watercraft with friends and family for 20 years.
In 2014, Dan realized a life-long dream of living in southern California by moving with Evan to Orange County and then Oceanside. While there, he and Evan were able to participate in their shared passion for personal watercraft races. They spent many hours working together as a solid racing team: Dan served as the chief mechanic and logistics manager allowing Evan to focus on being a racer.
Dan was a dedicated son, brother, father, and friend who sought excellence for himself and worked tirelessly to foster excellence in others. He will be missed by family and friends in MN, ND, CA, and around the world.
A memorial service will take place at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, MN yet this spring: Date and time to be announced. Dan’s friends and family are also planning a celebration of life for later in the year: Date and location to be announced. Memorials can be sent to the Salvation Army of MN or ND.

VIRGINIA MARGARET "MARGE" ROBINSON

It is with great love we remember a beloved wife, mother, grandmother “MaSugie”, friend and teacher to us all.

November 10, 1940 - October 12, 2020

It is with great love we remember a beloved wife, mother, grandmother “MaSugie”, friend and teacher to us all. Marge passed away in her sleep with her husband at her side Monday October 12, 2020. Marge’s love for teaching children was an unquestionable talent that will continue to bless the world with her lessons. One of her favorite Easter Sunday School lessons for young children was to clap together and sing the words “give up sadness, keep your gladness”. We know that she would want us to do the same in her passing and know that our Father Mother God continues to care for her. In lieu of flowers Roger, Eric, Kristin, Robyn together with their families invite you to share your favorite quality, memory or expression of gratitude for Marge or donate to a children’s charity of your choice. We will share your notes* with each other at a private family memorial. *(Mail to Roger Robinson 13526 Calle Colina, Poway CA 92064 or email kmj5@icloud.com)

Born in 1935 and raised as farm boy, he forewent multiple football scholarships to support his country and join the US ARMY in 1953 as an intelligence officer in Korea. He returned to the states and joined the San Diego City Police Department in 1961. In 1997, he retired as Detective Sargent in the Western Division. As part of Narcotics Task Force, Wayne was instrumental in establishing the National K9 Narcotics unit for Airport Security and Undercover High School Narcotics Task Force.

He was known as the “Best Detective Sargent”, someone who “impacted my life and career”, “raised me from a pup”, he taught me “how to investigate and be patient” and told so many, “there is life after the [SD] Police Department”.

Those who knew and loved him referred to him as “Gritts” or “True Grit” as a man of integrity and unconditional love for his family, fellow police officer’s, neighbor’s and those who he gave a hand to.

He loved being a Dad and “Pop Pop Wayne”. It meant the world to him. He let his grandkids dress him up, cover him in stuffed animals, play tea parties and ball. He always had an open door for all his children to lend an ear or cheer on their successes.

He fought his bravest battle against Frontotemporal Dementia. His love and devotion to his wife Eileen was with him to the end. He had her read his favorite Psalm 91 each night. Heaven opened up and welcomed Wayne A. Gritton with a smile on his face to greet the King…Jesus!

JOHN C. ESPLAND

John Claire Espland, 81, quietly passed away March 5, 2020 at his home in North County, with family & friends in attendance.

espland photo.jpg

John Claire Espland, 81, quietly passed away March 5, 2020 at his home in North County, with family & friends in attendance. It was hard to say good-bye to this hardworking, loyal & upstanding Christian man, but knowing he has gone to a place of unending joy with the Lord, lifts our hearts with praise & thanksgiving.

John has been suffering from Parkinson's & COPD for the last several years, but even with the added stress of Parkinson's' related dementia this last year or so, he never lost his love & gratitude for Jesus. He would tell you, Dear Reader, that Jesus loves you ~ whatever your race, religion or creed... Jesus loves you.

Proud of his Norwegian descent, John was born in Chester, South Dakota on December 22nd, 1938 to John and Ada (Gill) Espland and into a big Lutheran family. He was a mischievous, but kindhearted, 5th son. Being a typical Mid-western farm boy, he learned to be a hardworking, frugal and cautious man. He took these values to heart and lived them until the day he died.

After serving in the Army and National Guard, he found himself driving a 100 Ton truck at the Kaiser Steel Mine in Eagle Mountain, Ca. He married Antoinette Louise (Sanuy) in 1965 and had two daughters, Robin Elizabeth and Kathleen Marie. Here, the couple was very involved with the Youth Ministry at Eagle Mountain Methodist Church. They discovered the joy of being part of a caring group of people who loved the Lord and enjoyed working to give back to their little mining town community.

He and Toni moved to La Mesa in 1971 and later settled in Lemon Grove, Ca, joining Lemon Grove Lutheran Church. John began a new career in the grocery industry with Alpha Beta and soon enough, landed the role of Produce Manager for the brand new Alpha Beta in Coronado, Ca. His career at that store spanned from the early 1970's to his retirement in 2001. He knew and loved his customers, so whether the name was Alpha Beta, Lucky’s or finally Albertson's, his careful, diligent work and his twinkling, blue eyed smile were respected, appreciated and valued by those who knew him. He was very involved with Kiwanis and assisted a Tijuana orphanage for many, many years.

John and Toni moved to Rancho Peñasquitos in 1977 and continued raising their girls in this new and burgeoning community. John continued to commute to Coronado, Toni continued her career working for” Ma Bell” and the family joined Rancho Peñasquitos Lutheran Church. They divorced amicably in the mid 1980's and continued to partner in parenting because they knew it was best for their girls.

He met, fell in love with, and married Sherry Sue (Parker) December 5, 1987 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in El Cajon, CA. John loved Sherry’s children, Tina and Robert Bowers, like his own and strove to be the best step-father he could. The family lived in both Rancho Peñasquitos and Mira Mesa. They attended 1st Baptist Church of Mira Mesa for 25 years. After retirement he volunteered in many ways but the thing that brought his soul the most joy was his help with the California Southern Baptist Convention’s Disaster Relief Mission. He built, did plumbing, cleared debris, fed people and anything else that was needed in Tsunami destroyed Bande Ache; earthquake ravaged Chile; hurricane devastated Haiti, New Orleans, Florida and Texas. He would’ve continued on if he himself had not also been under attack by nature. The Parkinson’s took away what was most important to him, his ability to serve the Lord by working.

John spent as much time with his family & friends as possible. He lived to greet familiar clerks, bank tellers, and employees of his local Stater Bro’s. He spread Jesus' love and blessings verbally, instead of through works, by wishing everyone well. Although his smile became stiffer as the Parkinson’s progressed, his blue eyes still twinkled. His favorite pastimes these last few years were visiting with as many people as he could, eating ice cream & being at church with his beloved brothers and sisters of the spiritual kind.

John was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers; Howard William, Donald John, Gary Dean & David Andrew Espland. He is survived by his brother Robert Thomas Espland, 92, of Volga, SD. He leaves behind his widow Sherry; ex-wife Antoinette Berthelotte; children Robin (Kaufman), Kathleen (Harris); step-children Tina (Colangelo), and Robert; his son-in-laws Michael, Paul and John; 8 grand-children and 2 great-grandsons.

He will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery in a private ceremony. Due to COVID19, John’s Memorial Service has been postponed until restrictions on social gatherings have been lifted. Until then, may the Lord lift up your worry, fill your hearts with peace and keep you safe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following institutions in John’s name:

CSBC – California Southern Baptist Convention’s Disaster Relief Services

NCPSG – North County Parkinson’s Support Group

Bethel Church’s Uganda Missions

Bruce’s second wife, Leith Clotfelter, passed away two weeks prior to Bruce.

Bruce was born in Del Mar, California on July 26, 1933. He graduated from San Deguito High School where he was active on the track team and surfed at local beaches. After spending one summer working on a commercial fishing boat out of Alaska he decided college would be a better choice. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He then enlisted in the Army, serving as a Communications Specialist in the European theater.

After being discharged, Bruce attended San Francisco State University's School of World Business where he obtained his MBA. While in graduate school he met his first wife, Martha Simpson Priestley. He started his career with Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company. He then entered Nabisco's executive training program which had he Martha and daughter Klea relocate to Mexico City, Mexico where their son Huntley was born.

Subsequently they relocated to the seaside town of Rowayton CT and Bruce commuted to New York City. Bruce worked for several advertising agencies such as J Walter Thompson, Omnicom and Foote Cone & Belding. He was a respected innovative professional working on accounts such as Sears, Unilever, Frito-Lay, Citibank, American Express, T. Rowe Price, Dean Witter, NYSE and JP Morgan. Ultimately he worked for Citibank where, as Chief of Communications, he led the "The Citi Never Sleeps" campaign as well as the advertising of the first nationwide ATM network.

In 1995, Bruce started his career as a Business Development Consultant. He brought his extensive creative business expertise to large established companies as well as startup entities across many different industries. Bruce helped numerous startups such as Statmark which created and distributed video content to gas station pumps, elevators and other captive audiences. In his later years, Bruce worked as an angel investor / consultant specializing in consumer products, medical/ pharmaceuticals, technology and entertainment. Renowned for his expertise, Bruce was at the center of a wide network of professional colleagues who worked to promote innovations across the country.

In addition to devotedly raising a family with Martha, Bruce enjoyed boating on Long Island Sound. Bruce and Martha took their boat "The Lily Pad" up the coast to Cape Cod MA and the outer islands. They spent many hours at Fish Island and Sheffield Island enjoying the tranquility during the cocktail hour. He served as the Race Committee Captain for the Norwalk Yacht Club. Bruce and Martha also enjoyed traveling, taking many trips across the U.S., the Caribbean as well as Europe. A favorite visit was with long-time friends in Somalia and travelling in Africa for a safari.

Three years after Martha passed away, Bruce moved to Escondido CA and reconnected with longtime family friend Leith Clotfelter. Ultimately they married. They spent a lot of time visiting the children and grandchildren and their extended families. They also enjoyed their travels to the east coast, Alaska, Caribbean, Europe, Scotland and throughout Mexico. They particularly enjoyed the many times they visited the Sweet Grass Ranch in Montana.

Bruce was known for his unique ability to engage people from all walks of life. He knew the value of listening more than talking. He was guided by a desire to help others. This was evident in his ever present interest to help others in regard to careers, personal achievement, and complicated health situations. For over seven decades, Bruce happily shared his world class sand castle building skills, joyfully teaching his pioneering sand drip method to every kid on the beach..

Bruce is survived by daughter Klea (Steve) Galasso of Chula Vista and their children Isabella and Octavio; son Huntley Jackson of Southington, Connecticut and his daughters Klea, Kendra, Kellen and Keyla Roy, her husband Timothy and their son, Calvin Jackson; sister Gail (Bill Simonsma) Jackson of Hawaii; half-siblings Linda (Jim Stone) Jackson of San Rafael, California and Larry (Nancy) Jackson of Port Townsend, Washington; and sister-in-law Susan Jackson of San Diego, the extended Clotfelter family, and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

September 25, 1934 - January 17, 2020

Dorothy Weaver passed into Eternity on January 17. She peacefully slipped away, after lying down for an afternoon nap.

She was born in Dayton, Texas to Edmund Leroy and Olive Katherine (Thornton)  Green.

She was the Eldest of 4 Children, born in only 5 years.  Her Siblings were Jack, Ruby and Colleen. She also had a Half-Sister, Mary, who she named.

Dorothy met her future husband, Robert William Weaver,  at Escondido High School, where they were Graduated from in 1953. They  married shortly thereafter.  They had 3 girls together, before they divorced in 1975.

Dorothy was a devout Christian, and counted the day that she accepted him as her Saviour, as the happiest day of her life. Her faith in Him saw her through the many challenges she would face.

She stayed active all throughout her life, which may account for her making it to the ripe old age of 85! She enjoyed reading her Bible, visiting with family, eating out, going to the library (she loved biographies and history), watching American Movie Classics and Westerns and going on outings.

She is survived by her Sister, Colleen Gregorian, Daughters, Cathy Gremett (Husband, Bob, passed in 2015), Cindy Nagy (Husband, Ron), and Connie Hopkins (Husband, Paul).

Between biological, and kids acquired by marriage, she had nine Grandchildren (Lance Gremett (Wife, Leslie), Jessica Gremett Anderson (Husband, Aaron), Matt Nagy (Wife, Jessica), Jennifer Wilson (Husband, Justin), Luke Nagy,  Carly Nagy, Patricia Kelso, Lizabeth Kelso (Husband, Hyacient), Shane Hopkins, and eight Great-Grandchildren, Cody Postoski, Richie Postoski, Spencer Gremett, Jasmine Anderson, Levi Anderson, Elliott Banuet, Remy Jasper and  Desmond Wilson.

Many thanks for all the kindness that has been shown to our Mother, as well as to the family, at this time, as well as during her lifetime. Thanks also to our friends at Sierra Vista and Apreva Hospice, for their support.

Please join us to celebrate her life on February 3rd, at 11am, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 2640 Glenridge Rd in Escondido, CA.  We will meet at the duck pond area, to the left, near the entrance, where Pastor Todd Hitchcock, from Bethel Church, will officiate her interment.  Further remembrance, a slideshow of her life in pictures, and Luncheon will follow at the nearby home of Angie Mocci: 1580 Boyle Ave in Escondido.

Please check this site later, for a full Eulogy, and any other messages that loved ones may want to add here.
