Chad Spinks
Chad Spinks
Chad Lee Spinks, age 45, of Vista, California, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026. For seven years, he carried the weight of advanced colon cancer with grit and resolve, defying odds and refusing to let the disease define the life he lived. Born on February 12, 1981, in Bentonville, Arkansas, Chad spent much of his youth in Southern California, attending Ramona schools and graduating from Ramona High School. He went on to pursue his creative talents at California State University, San Marcos, where he met his wife of almost 20 years, and best friend, Sarah. After college, he launched his professional career as a graphic designer at the SD Union Tribune and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.
Chad was a devoted family man, a talented creative, a musician and a deeply loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was usually found creating in his music studio, working on his house, fixing things, cooking, grilling, and cheering at his son’s baseball games. He was a loyal Padres fan, animal lover, and overall amazing guy. His strength, enduring love, and dedication to his family throughout his long illness, inspired everyone who knew him.
Chad is survived by his beloved wife Sarah, and their son, Mack: his parents, Bill and Laurie Spinks of Missouri; parents-in-law, Dan and Renata Carlin of Vista; sisters Kim (Todd) Benyr and Christina (Jason) Coburn; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends, who miss him beyond words.
A celebration of Chad’s life is being planned for early November and will be announced at a later date.
